Kris Hjelle

| Kris Hjelle (pronounced "yelly"), co-owner of Colorado Alpine & Desert Adventures, has been climbing for 34 years and guiding for 20. Her climbing resume includes first ascents at Devils Tower, Colorado National Monument and Dominguez Canyon. While she has climbed and canyoneered throughout the U.S. - from Yosemite to the Shawangunks, Zion, San Rafael Swell, and southeastern Utah Canyonlands - as well as in New Zealand and Australia, she has chosen to specialize in guiding and instruction on the desert rocks and canyonlands of western Colorado and eastern Utah. Kris has completed the American Mountain Guides Association Basic Rock Guides course and technical rescue courses with the National Park Service and Yosemite Search and Rescue. She is member of the Mesa County Technical Rescue Team, as well as a ski instructor. A dedicated climbing teacher, Kris combines a comprehensive knowledge of equipment and techniques with a commitment to the environment and ethical climbing. |

Jose Iglesias

| Jose Iglesias, co-owner of Colorado Alpine & Desert Adventures, leads his profession with UIAGM certification, the highest level of international certification available to professional climbing guides. He is one of only a handful of guides in the US that is certified at this level. Jose also holds AMGA certification. Originally from Europe, Jose has over 20 years of extensive experience guiding, climbing and moutaineering throughout the world including the European Alps, the Himalayas, the Andes, parts of Africa and numerous areas across North America. Jose enjoys teaching and guiding in all areas of climbing---rock climbing, alpine climbing, ice climbing, ski moutaineering, guide training and technical rescue. In addition to his climbing expertise, Jose is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, a professional ski patroller and the technical director of the Mesa County Search and Rescue Technical Rescue Team in Colorado. |
